About this Cook
Whats there to say other then I am a southern girl. Born in the heart of Derby country in Louisville,Ky. I grew up about a mile from the race track. so I guess you could say horses and bourbon are in my blood. I'm expert in taking whiskey shots; frying chicken and making Bourbon Balls. I moved to Georgia to be with my fiance, while he attends graduate school at the University of Georgia. We currently have a 2 year old purebred beagle who is from my great grandfather's hunting stock named Bella and a Pembroke welsh Corgi named Montoya who will be on 1 on August 4...my they grow up so fast.
My favorite things to cook
I love making comfort food for my family! Mostly things like: Fried chicken, Potatoe Cakes, Sushi, Crab Rangoon, Derby pie and Bourbon balls. i make a mean Mint Jeulp and Firecrackers too lol. What a Firecracker is you ask? Well it is a 1/2 oz. of Hot Liqueur 100 proof and a 1/2 oz. of Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon served in a shot glass and sprinkled with cayenne pepper!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Bourbon Balls, Derby pie, Seven Layer salad, potatoe cakes and Makers Mark chicken
My cooking triumphs
Being able to make any dish I attempt turn out perfect. Everyone tells me I should have gone to cooking school. My family swears I am the next Paula Deen...seriously they do.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first learning how to cook, my red velvet cake did not laven properly so I ended up with a fizzy mess and a hot oven to clean out :( My most recent one was my stove catching on fire..i was frying pork chops and some oil sloshed out of the skillet as I was adding more when my hand shook and the spilled oil caught fire under my skillet!! it was scary but nothing tossing flour on top of it couldn't fix!

Aunt Bert's White Cake
This cake is excellent in terms of being moist and flavor full but it is an extremely dense cake with more of a sponge texture. I' not a fan of the density of the cake but I love the favor. I've made this cake as a cupcakes which it is far better as cupcakes then a cake! Today I made this cake and I completely FORGOT to add the vanilla but the cake came out delish anyways even without the vanilla!!

Honey Baked Chicken II
I really enjoyed this recipe. I did make a minor change to the recipe though, since I don't keep curry powder one hand I used cayenne pepper in paced of it.
