About this Cook
I am a college student. I'm great at all things math and science but am terrible at spelling, grammar and just about anything else related to language, though I do love to read. on of my roommates is celiac and I've decided to learn how to make actualy tasty gluten free food and that's actually what motivated me to join all recipes so that others could try the recipes I've figured out so far. I hope you enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
BREAD! I love bread and have been on a quest to find the perfect form of every bread. My current goal is gluten free sandwhich bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in a home where "cold" cereal was a treat and oatmeal was the norm. Every meal was cooked from scratch, and we all took our turns making dinner as soon as we could safely reach the stove. The first thing i ever learned to cook was an alfraido sauce, which was about the only thing I cooked for 5 years. I've gotten really good at making white sauce based food. Our family always had a well stocked pantry with the essential baking items, which is now part of my own tradition.
My cooking triumphs
I made an amazing gluten free cheesecake for thanksgiving. It even impressed my chef friend!
My cooking tragedies
I once messed up mac and cheese from a box! we didn't have milk so I used powdered milk...but I liked powdered milk with sugar in it...so I added sugar. The whole thing was a catastrophy. Luckily i was very young and my family was brave enough to still try food I made.

One Bowl Brownies
This recipe failed to deliver. Being an especially picky brownie connoisseur I was utterly disappointed. They weren't chocolaty enough, the texture/density was way off and the appearance was also off. I followed the directions thoroughly mixed every thing by hand and used the best ingredients. I ended up with slightly denser cake squares. They tasted ok but were definitely not a keeper. I gave it three stars since the cake squares tasted ok and because I'm much pickier than most people. If you are picky too move on this recipe is not for you.
