About this Cook
I am a restaurant manager who one day wants to have her own place to share her cooking/baking with the world! I have used allrecipes.com for quite awhile but finally decided to join to add my own recipes and comment on others' recipes with my own suggestions.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and experimenting with cooking from any international cuisine. Everything from good ole all-American comfort food to asian cuisine to Mediterranean to middle eastern cooking, and more!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents both grew up in the Philippines and I am also a Navy brat which can account for my widely-accepting pallette. My mother trained me to cook at a young age and taught me a lot of traditional philipino recipes. She also taught me to bake. We also lived in Italy for two years so I learned a lot of traditional Italian cooking methods.
My cooking triumphs
I created an apple-cake recipe when I was young because we had a huge apple tree. I have since made it with pears and added different things to it. Also, I am dating a vegetarian so I love to recipes which normally use meat and use meat-substitutes or veggies in their place, without sacrificing flavors.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many! Cookies that came out too flat, forgetting the cheese layers in my lasagna, miscalculating measurements of recipes... I try to forget those when they happen. :)

Ratatouille
This was an awesome recipe, I served it over rice. I sauteed each veggie before layering it in the pan to get a nice browning crisp on them, then I didn't have to bake as long. I also added some mozzarella before baking.

Pineapple Scotchies
This was great, they taste kind of like personal pineapple upside-down cakes. I could only find a 20 oz can of pineapple so I used it in place of the 2 eight oz ones. This of course added a bit of moisture to the cookies, even after draining completely, but it didn't really affect the outcome, the cookies were a bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Delightful and I will make again. Everyone was intrigued by the flavor combination.

Emily's Excellent Taco Casserole
Quick and easy and vegetarian, which pleases my man. :) I liked it a lot! I garnished it with sweet red onion and salsa. Yummy.
