About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Baking... cookies, pies, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Throw it all in one pot and see how it tastes! LOL
My cooking triumphs
I love creating my own recipes. I guess I'm like my mother in that sense.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first learning to cook, I made a chocolate cream pie and I forgot to cook the chocolate pudding long enough. (This was long before instant pudding!) It was totally runny! To this day (almost 40 years later) my stepdad still asks me to make him a 'glass' of chocolate pie every time I visit for the holidays!

Pumpkin Bread IV
This was an excellent recipe, although I did tweak it (like I do to most recipes). I added about 1/2 teaspoon of rum extract and two teaspoons of vanilla extract. In addition, I doubled the nutmeg and the cloves and tripled the cinnamon. I also added a couple cups of raisins. I took this to a community thanksgiving meal and it was a huge hit. Although it does make a ton of bread!

Cranberry Orange Bread
This was fabulous but I think it needed a little more sugar. I used frozen cranberries, but I ran them through the blender to chop them up first and it worked great. I also added some orange extract and a little water, but I think I would add even more next time. They were delicious, though.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
I really enjoyed making this pie as it was quick and easy. I don't eat pie, but I love baking and when I made this for Thanksgiving, it got rave reviews from my friends! I did take the other reviewers advice, though, and I added cinnamon... which I pretty much add to everything! LOL Thanks for the great recipe.
