Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
Followed suggestions and flipped them out as soon as they were done (which took about 10 minutes longer as I only had 9 big ones, not 12)...forgot the vanilla and these are GREAT!!! My kids LOVE them!!

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I've made this twice now, both times in the oven. The first time I let it rise overnight in the fridge and today the more traditional way, on the counter. I can honestly say this is the BEST bread I have ever had. It is delightful toasted with butter, wonderful used in a sandwich. I plan on toasting it for stuffing at Christmas. Like others suggested I sub honey for the sugar (and use 3 tbsp.). I also use real butter (I don't use margarine). I won't by bread in the store anymore, I make this instead and my kids love it too. Absolutely great stuff!!!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was awesome, with the tweaks I made. No turkey liver or parsley (don't care for either), doubled and used fresh herbs (to die for), used Sage Pork Sausage, used good sourdough bread in place of white bread and potato bread in place of whole wheat. Also doubled the apple and added a pear. This was the BEST dressing recipe ever, will never make a different one again. This is the best recipe on this site!!!

Spooky Halloween Eyeballs

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Okay, I just made these to top the Halloween cupcakes and here are my recommendations: 1) After you shape the balls, put a toothpick in them and then place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes or so. 2) Don't bother adding the shortening to the white chocolate. I zapped a bag of white choc. chips in the microwave for 30 seconds...stirred...30 more seconds...really stirred and it melted beautifully (do have to stir for a while to completely melt the choc). 3) Dip the frozen PB balls in the white chocolate and gently push it off of the toothpick (push it up off the toothpick), after you set it down the choc will still "ooze" over where your fingers were. 4) I didn't bother with the red squiggles as it looked too time consuming. All in all it looks great!! The boys really like them!

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
This is quite bland. The fish tastes like nothing really...just extremely battered (no I didn't whisk it too hard or long). The sauce and cabbage was a bit boring so I added homemade pico de gallo. I ended up loving a fishless version with just the pico and cabbage mix in a slightly fried tortilla with a bit of shredded cheese on top. If I make this again I will add some seasoning to the beer-batter.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
I started to make my typical salad and then decided to make this, so I had some mushrooms, tomatoes, and onion slices already in my salad. I then added the avocado, pears, chopped candied pecans, and blue cheese. I topped with the dressing. All I can say is "WOW!" The flavor combos here are amazing. The pecans with the pears creates a totally different flavor than the avocado and blue cheese (what a great combo) so every bite is different. If you like strong flavors this is the salad for you. If you like subtle flavors I doubt you would like this much. Thank you so much, I look forward to making this at Thanksgiving (the dressing would be great with an apple style salad as well I think.) This is just fantastic!

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
Very good, even without fish sauce and with a bit too much ginger (wow!). If you make it a bit too hot (like I did) so jasmine rice and naan really help to calm the heat...oh so good...naan...mmmm. The whole reason I made this was for an excuse to use naan and jasmine rice to sop up some tasty sauce, and it was worth it!!

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
Very good even with my changes so the recipe must be great written as is. I omitted the lime juice (didn't have any) and added corn and black beans to the filling mixture (with the green chiles). Then finished the recipe as written but with jalepeno and cilantro tortillas (they were what I had left) and it was very tasty. I just looked at the calorie count though and now can't eat anything else for the rest of the day!! A great recipe...does make quite a few messy dishes.

Fruited Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
If you use this with peaches, cut back on the vanilla as it overpowers the peaches. Worked well with blackberries, but may overpower other fruit. Easy method and I found it fairly creamy.

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
Never had Fried Green TOmatoes before, and if this is how they are supposed to taste than I likely never will again. Very bland and bitter. I prefer much more flavor. Maybe I should have tried them thinner sliced like many reviewers state, but at this rate I likely won't bother.

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
Really tasty!! I only had red cabbage so it looked a little funny but was tasty. Also wanted to use up a leek so I subbed it for the onion. Added a bit of spinach for iron...quite tasty!! I usually don't add salt to my dishes as I don't like much salt, but with this recipe you really need to salt it to balance the flavors...too sweet without it (then again my pinch of sugar may have been a bit large). All in all, very good recipe that is relatively healthy and tasty...great combo...my 7 year old and 18 month old liked it as well.

Chicken with Asparagus and Roasted Red Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
By far my favorite recipe!! Cut the chicken up before you add all the asparagus and it is wonderful. You can add some mushrooms and rotel tomatoes as well for a fast, tasty, healthy meal. I've made this 3 times in the past two weeks and will be making it again in a few days....I can't get enough!!

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
These are just delightful!! I did make some changes based on what I had available in the kitchen. I didn't have raisens, wheat germ, or walnuts so I replaced that with craisens (left over from holiday cooking), oat bran and pecans...very tasty and the cranberries made it so sweet!! I used no oil, 3/4 c. apple butter and 1/4 c. applesauce. I also used two apples instead of one (I felt mine were a bit smallish). The result was very moist and needed to be baked a bit longer (about 25 minutes due to the higher moisture in the apples). This is a great recipe... if only I can stop eating more than one at a sitting they would be "healthier".

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Really disappointed in these. I made them for my son's holiday class and am a bit embarrassed by them. The flavor is almost non-existent. Good thing there's frosting on them to add some sweetness. I followed the recipe exactly and will not be making again.
