I learned how to bake from my paternal grandmother. She taught me a lot of useful tips. I bake for family, friends, school, etc. My mom always asks me to bake cookies for her to bring to work.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy baking cookies the most. You can vary the size, the shape, the taste. Plus, they're fun to bake with other people.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up helping my dad cook dinner and baking cookies for dessert. I loved watching my dad and my grandmother, his mother, cook.
My cooking triumphs
Every time I bake cookies for my mom to bring to work, she comes home and tells me that everyone loved them and they disappeared instantly. I'm in choir so I bake cookies for the receptions after our concerts. I recently brought in sugar cookies and my choir teacher was raving about them for a week straight. I gave her a bag for Christmas and she had the biggest smile on her face.
My cooking tragedies
The only tragedy I've ever really encountered was using silicone baking molds. My mom bought two molds, one of gingerbread men and one of hearts, so I could bake cookies for her. I generally do two batches of each mold and only the first one of each comes out. For some reason, the second batch never comes out all the way. The cookies get stuck to the bottom of the little shapes and they break.
