Bacon-Wrapped Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
i tried the recipe as written and served it with sour cream and did not like it. the onions didnt cook up very well and the bacon didnt add much flavor. i love baked potatoes so i decided to give this another try. this time i layered the onions in and then seasoned the inside of the potatoes with salt, pepper, garlic salt and put in a thin slice of butter. i cooked these wrapped in foil and then at the end opened them up and broiled it to crisp up the bacon. this time they tasted awesome because the potatoes were allowed to cook in their own juices and the onions were nice and tender!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
i halved the recipe but kept the amount of spices the same (basically used half the amount of bread crumbs, flour, milk and chicken called for) and ended up with very moist and flavorful chicken. i used a piece in a sandwich with swiss, tomato and lettuce and that tasted wonderful too!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
this has to be one of my favorite recipes on this site! my family always has ham at our holiday get togethers and now im always excited to get a hold of some of the leftovers for soup! i always add extra potatoes, ham, onion and celery. then to give it a little something extra i add dried parsley, dried thyme, garlic powder and seasoning salt. i never have a problem with this soup being too salty (in fact i add more!) but i think that might have something to do with how salty your ham is to begin with

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
i liked this. it's definitely something that i will make again. i substituted about 4 medium sized chopped tomatoes for the cherry tomatoes (i think i'll try sun dried next) and also added salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and seasoning salt to the sauce. the sauce was a bit runny at first but after sitting for about 15 minutes it thickened up nicely. oh and also cook the chicken with minced fresh garlic and whatever seasonings you like. this helps give the dish a little something extra

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
this sauce good but im sure there are probably even better recipes out there. however, i always use this recipe when i make pizza because its way better than the jarred stuff, it's super easy/fast to make and most importantly i have all the spices on hand!

Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
holy smokes this was good!!! (not to mention incredibly easy.) the submitter must use a different kind of lady fingers because the ones they sell at my local safeway came in 3oz packages and i ended up only using 2 1/2 packs. also, i took other reviewers advice and cooked down whole unsweetened strawberries with sugar and cornstarch and also added real strawberries into the cake layers. awesome recipe!

Chocolate Crinkles III

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
yummy! these are definitely "milk & cookie" cookies! i was impatient and only left these in the fridge for about 30 minutes. the key is to not over work the dough when you are rolling... that's when things start getting really messy! oh and i wouldnt hesitate to add white chocolate chunks or chocolate chips to the batter!

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
i've never had corned beef before and absolutely hate beer but i tried this anyway. i'm so glad that i did! i halved the recipe and still some how managed to put a 22 oz of guinness in there and didnt realize what i'd done until after it went in. i was worried that i'd messed it up but it still turned out yummy :). i used the leftover liquid to cook some potatoes and carrots... so flavorful and good!!!! however, i wouldnt recommend doing that for people who do not like salty things because the vegetables do come out a bit salty. thanks for the recipe!

when i first tasted they tasted like mushy oreos coated in almond bark... yuck! however, after refrigerating them they tasted a lot better. this gets 4 stars because they're very easy to make, come out looking fantastic and my bf and his friend really liked them.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
i was kind of scared to try this recipe because every "chewy" chocolate chip recipe that i've tried just never tasted good and had a weird texture but this recipe was the best! everybody loved these. this is going to be my new chocolate chip recipe. i only added 8oz of chopped up baking chocolate. i think the 16oz called for would have been way too much for my taste.

Homemade Crispy Seasoned French Fries

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
i added a tsp of bayou cajun seasoning... these were delicious! i also added just enough water to the flour mixture so that it resembled a thick paste. then i strained the cut potatoes from the water and added all of them to the paste and mixed it up. the batter thinned out because of some of the remaining water on the potatoes but if its not enough water then just add more a little at a time. this was a lot faster than dipping them one at a time. i used tongs to put them into the fryer. sometimes i got lazy and added the fries in clumps and just poked them apart once inside the oil (be careful!) and they still turned out great :)
