About this Cook
Married in 1987, with a son and daughter in high school. I normally work full-time in HR, but am currently out of work since my job was eliminated after a merger.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking most of all...especially Christmas cookies and dessert bars. I'm always looking for main dish recipes that my entire family will enjoy. Not an easy feat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Devoting a day or two to Christmas baking. I love giving homemade cookies to neighbors, co-workers, etc. for Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I make the best mashed potatoes in the world. My chili is always good, but I don't use a recipe. My fruit streusel bars have been described as "friggin' amazing."
My cooking tragedies
I might as well completely give up on pork chops!

Deluxe Sour Cream Chicken
My husband tasted this and said "Wow!" The combination of flavors is delicious. I followed the recipe exactly as written, except that I broke the cooked bacon into bite-size pieces and sprinkled them on top of the chicken before adding the sauce. I also sauteed the mushrooms (on the same griddle as the bacon). Thanks for this terrific recipe...will definitely make again for both family and company.

Wings In Cola
Great recipe...extremely easy to prepare and definitely worth the cooking time! I had to cook a little faster (1 1/2 hours covered and 1 hour uncovered, turning every 30 minutes), and at a higher temp (350-375F), but it still turned out great. The sauce reduced perfectly, and the meat was falling off the bone. I cut the recipe in half (thank you, Allrecipes!), used a little less brown sugar than called for, and added 1/2 tsp. ground mustard. I also used Diet Pepsi, garlic powder instead of garlic salt, and low sodium soy sauce. Great flavor, and not too salty.

Almost Stuffed Peppers
Aside from doubling the green pepper, I followed the recipe exactly. My entire family loves it! My daughter claims that she doesn't like green peppers and I told her that she could eat around them, but she cleaned her plate, peppers and all.
