About this Cook
I live in a mixed Gluten Free Household; some of us can have gluten and some of us can't. Finding gluten free recipes that are simple and tasty enough for the everyone in the house to enjoy has been an uphill battle. Many gluten free versions of foods that traditionally contain gluten, such as bread, pie crust, cookies etc, usually turn to ashes in your mouth. I am on a mission to use Kitchen Alchemy to make my family's diet safe, healthy and above all, Pleasureable!
My favorite things to cook
I want my cooking to be aesthetic as well as delicious. A good dish should catch your eye and call out to your nose with the promise of something wonderful for your taste buds. I love experimenting with breads, dessert baking, and dinner meals that vary from easy to ambitious.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything that involves cooking for others. To feed and nourish another person is one of the most simple acts of love and kindness.
My cooking triumphs
Gluten Free Black and Blue Berry Pie!! The crust had a good solid but flexible structure so it could be easily removed from the pan, and the filling was thick enough to retain its shape on the plate, even with the additional weight of icecream. I admit it; I did the Gluten Free Happy Dance.
My cooking tragedies
Gluten free bread that could have doubled as a door stop; definitely NOT edible. VERY embarrassing!
