My name is April. I am 27 years old. My husband and I live in Louisville, KY. I love being a homemaker. I absolutely love to cook and love to host dinner parties for all our family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
my absolute favorite is just cooking a simple meal for two cozied up watching television or enjoying a nice fall night outdoors.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother and her sister are both excellent cooks, so I feel I learned from the best. My mother was a single parent so I spent alot of time at grandma's house learning how to cook. I mostly cooked for my mom growing up since she worked all the time. My favorite traditions that I have made for the family would probably include my baked macarroni and cheese and french silk pie which must be served every Thanksgiving no matter what else is on the menu. Everyone always requests those!
My cooking triumphs
Every Thanksgiving, my husband and I take in "the strays" as we call them. Anyone who does not have a family to celebrate with, or maybe can not get home for the holidays is welcome to spend it with us. This year we were planning on many more "strays" so we bought a 25 pound turkey. We live in a one bedroom apartment with the smallest kitchen imaginable, so to cook a turkey that big meant everything else was stove top or crock pot which was a challenge. Luckily, my thanksgiving rocked!
My cooking tragedies
I decided to make stuffed shells for dinner one night and forgot about them. It took me forever to get those burnt shells out of my casserole dish!!
