I made these for my husband and he loved them. Gobbled them all up. I didn't use the onions and I did add some "slap ya momma" spices. This is a great recipe and will make again for another holiday or event.

It came out alright, however I believe this to be my own fault. I tried to put extra juice instead of veggie oil like one poster suggested and it was okay. Will try again, hopefully will come out like the picture!

I followed the recipe to the T and it came out wonderful! I've never made any kind of homemade cake before. The Meringue was good too. I did use one more egg white for the meringue. I shared some with my older(60+) neighbors. They loved it and told how it tasted like cake when they were younger. I love this cake and will make it again! Its a favorite!
