I love to cook and collect cookbooks. I have been a consumate dinner party giver for years and love to entertain. Cooking is both a pastime and a science for me. I read cookbooks from cover to cover and attempt to learn new techniques and cooking styles constantly. I also collect dishes and table setting items for entertaining and family meals.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Mexican food, French dishes and all breads, appetizers and just about everything except Asian, which I have not mastered.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family favorites are the holiday tradiitional meals at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day.
My cooking triumphs
Teaching several different cooking classes to all ages. When I lived in Saudi Arabia, I taught learning disabled children math and reading through cooking schools. What they could not learn in the classroon, they excelled at when taught through cooking measurements and recipes.
My cooking tragedies
My first dinner party as a young Air Force Officer's Wife. I did not thaw my chicken thoroughly before cooking so it was very, very rare. Not a good thing for poultry! I pulled it off with the salad, bread and chocolate mousse dessert.
