I'm a stay at home mom and I love getting creative in the kitchen. I grew up in Saudi Arabia (my Dad was in oil and gas) and developed an appreciation for mediteranian flavors. I think radishes are greatly under used in American foods!
My favorite things to cook
The food I love to cook when company is coming:
Standing rib roast with amazing yorkshire pudding. They are even more impressive because I live at 7600 feet and just getting them to rise above the top of the muffin tin took some practice!
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my home, my Dad was the cook. He makes the most AMAZING gravy. That is what he is known for at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He and I would work together in the kitchen on special occasions and would sample the gravy constantly until we were happy with the results.
My cooking triumphs
This thanksgiving my mother-in-law and I worked in the kitchen together for 5 hours to create one of the best meals I have ever had. The turkey was perfect, I made my Dads gravy and stuffing recipe and all the side dishes finished at exactly the same time! The next day we had company over for my favorite, standing rib roast and yorkshire pudding. My mother-in-law seemed to think I was just throwing things together and it all turned out well. Little did she know that I have been practicing often to make these dishes work well.
My cooking tragedies
One time we had company over and she was a vegan due to allergies. I tried to make a dish that asked for rice noodles and the whole thing was just a pile of mush when I was done. I wish I had made a practice dish the day before, but she was gracious and managed to choke it down.
