I've enjoyed cooking most of my life. My mom and grandma's were my inspiration, and I learned alot from them, helping in the kitchen, and watching their methods. I think I have a 6th sense when it comes to putting a new recipe together, and knowing what is going to taste good and look appetizing.
My favorite things to cook
Tuscan Italian dishes; fish taco's are one of my favorites for a quick and tasty dinner; southwestern meatless bean soup
My cooking triumphs
pig roast for 100 friends and neighbors, included a 120# hog, in the North Carolina barbecue tradition.
My cooking tragedies
I broke my right foot, making roasted red potatoes. I forgot that the skillet I roasted the potatoes had just been taken out of the oven, and when I picked it up with my bare hand, I jumped in the air. I landed on my right foot sideways and shattered several bones. It required surgery, pins and I was in a cast for 4 months.
