Onion Chicken in Balsamic Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
At first the sauce wouldn't thicken, then it turned into tar. I followed the recipe exactly except I used chicken breasts. Super bland. I would have added at least SOME herbs had I known! Oh and the smell was awful. I live in an apartment and the entire floor stunk! You could smell it all the way to the elevators and I'm in the back. I've made balsamic reductions before, but for some reason this one smelled uber bad. I'm giving it two stars because after it wasn't thickening at all, I accidentally thickened it too much and well, it came out like tar. It's been really hard scraping it off of my utensils. Anyway, if I ever make something like this again I would add some fresh herbs, or dry herbs, or any herbs! Just something to give it some oomph!

Herbed Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I added less honey and no allspice (I didn't have any allspice). Besides that, I followed the recipe exactly. I found the sauce to be too thin and even though I added less honey than directed, it was too sweet. The sauce was really, really, really thin. Almost like water.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly, except I substituted one can of cannelli beans for one can of black beans as I didn't have two cans of black beans. I found this recipe to be exceptionally bland. Maybe I'll use it again, but if I do, it will only be as the base for something else.

Country Style Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
I really, really liked this, but I had to add soooooo much other stuff to it: Cajun Spices, Mrs. Dash, Paprika, Chilli powder, garlic powder, worsteschire sauce, a tiny bit of butter, dill, etc. Though I honestly would have never have thought to do this in the first place. That's why I'm giving this two stars.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This was amazing! Only problem I had was that my boyfriend didn't like the smell of the vinegar while I was making the sauce, otherwise, again, amazing! Only change I made was to reduce it even a little more then it was said to. Will definitely make again.

Easy Olive Martini Chicken

This recipe was really great. I'd give it a 5, but I baked it instead of sauteeing it. It came out lovely baked, I don't think it would have as much flavor sauteed.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
I cut the recipe in half because I only had one pound of shrimp. That being said, I added extra parsley and a small dash of vermouth (very small). My boyfriend really liked it (or at least said he did) but I found it really bland. I won't be making it again.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
I totally messed up and accidentally put one TABLESPOON of kosher salt instead of one TEASPOON. To balance this, I added some garlic, a tiny bit of white wine and less then have a lemon of lemon juice. It turned out better than I thought it would, considering my dumb mistake. After 45 minutes they still weren't blackened, but I took them out anyway. Next time I make them I'm going to do it strictly by the recipe and see how I do. Though they came out tasty and my boyfriend actually loved them. He wants me to make them the same way again. I'm just curious as to if they'll be better done the right way.

Premium Tres Leches Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
I had never made a cake before and came across this recipe when I decided to make one spur of the moment for my boyfriend's birthday. It tasted great and was easy to make. I didn't use the frosting though. Instead I made a raspberry and strawberry sauce. It went well! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
