About this Cook
I am married to a FABULOUS man! He is my everything! I love being a homemaker, yet years ago I would have never thought I would! I participate in community theatre when I can. I love talking to and hanging out with my family and friends. I enjoy having my "kids" around because they listen to everything I say and provide me with hours of fun and comfort. Keep in mind, my "kids" are 3 cats, 1 turtle, saltwater fish and fresh water fish!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts!!! Who doesn't love cookies, brownies, cupcakes, fudge, breads and cakes...?!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister is 12 years older than me, so she was always stuck babysiting me! We always made chocolate chip cookies and rice krispy treats together and because of the time we shared in the kitchen, she is my best friend!
My cooking triumphs
My husband loves meat, so when we switched to ground turkey because it was healthier, it was a hard transition for him. He loves it now, but I was having a hard time developing recipes. I always used cookbooks and the net to find recipes. One night, I decided that I have cooked so many things and watched so many cooking shows, that I could make something on my own. That was the nite "Mamma Mia Misty's Meatballs" were born. I get lots of requests for them!!
My cooking tragedies
I always get upset when something doesn't turn out how I expected, but I bake often for my husbands staff which they love. I had called him at work and the lady who answered the phone recognized my voice. She begged for some cookies, so I told her I would have my husband bring some in the next day. I made my awesome Monster Cookie batter. I baked 4 different batches and NONE of them turned out...I don't know what happened. It was sad to dump the rest in the trash! The staff was pretty dissappointed the next day!

Baked Sesame Chicken
This was very yummy! It was sooo easy to make! I only made 2 chicken breasts because I wasn't sure if I would like it, but it was delicious! The chicken was moist on the inside and had a little crunch on the outside from the sesame seeds. The seeds didn't stick very well, so after I put them on the baking sheet, I threw a few more on top! The only thing I added was 1/4 tsp of garlic powder to the dry mix. Thanks for a super simple and yummy dish!

Company Couscous
I loved this recipe!!! My husband had never had couscous before and he ate the entire pot of this!! (I did cut the recipe to only 3 servings!) The only changes I made were: I used whole wheat couscous, chicken stock instead of water, extra garlic, yellow onion instead of green and omitted the tomatoes because my husband doesn't really like them. I served them with my Cumin Meatballs...absolutely delicious!! I will certainly make this again!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars
These were super delicious eventhough I made a few changes. I replaced the corn syrup with honey, didn't use the sesame seeds because I didn't have them and omitted the chocolate chips, but added extra raisins. I cut them into granola bar length, wrapped them individually for an easy on the go breakfast! I will definately make these again! Oh I also crunched up about 1/3 cup of peanuts because my husband loves them. It gave them a crunchier texture!
