Yummy Granola
Delicious Granola Bars!
About this Cook
Hi, my name is Alexandra, I absolutely love to cook and have been cooking since i was a little girl. I'm 15 years old and one cooking is definitely one of my favorite hobbies! I simply love tweaking and adjusting recipes, to add a bit of my own unique style. I love cooking so much because the sky is the limit (and i haven't gotten that high yet...haha)It's always a surprise how a new recipe will turn out, and i love surprises!
My favorite things to cook
Low calorie and low fat versions of food, desserts, and pasta dishes. I try to eat healthfully, so i usually try to decrease the fat, calories and sugar in all of my recipes, and up the fiber and protein. Desserts always are decadent and fulfulling so i like those, and since i am an avid cross country runner, those carbo-loading pasta dishes are definitely high on my list!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love thanksgiving! I'm always experimenting with new ways to prepare the turkey, much to my mother's shagrin, and there's always a way to make the mashed potatoes creamier, fluffier and richer... It's a lot of work, but i'm open to new ideas. I also love when my family gives me positive feedback on my culinary masterpieces!
My cooking triumphs
I recently succeded in making a tasty roasted-red pepper sauce, and people say my pies, cookies and cakes are to die for, not to be too humble...haha
My cooking tragedies
I have completely failed at lemon custard...and i once put cinnamon in stir-fry...yuck! A couple of times, my breads have turned out pretty catastrophic too...I think the yeast was old... ha ha ha, just kidding.

Playgroup Granola Bars
These are really good! My family and i love them, and spread with a little peanut butter, they really keep you going with protein, carbs, fiber and a bit of fat. I ran out of wheat germ so i just used an extra 1/4 cup of flour. I had substituted whole wheat flour. I also decreased both the honey, oil and the brown sugar to 1/3 of a cup because i don't like things too sweet, and i wanted to lower the calories. They turned out declicious, though. The only thing was they're a bit crumbly, and a bit dense. That may have been from the adjustments i made, so i gave them 4 stars.
