Jumbo Birthday Cupcakes!
About this Cook
I am 20 years old and a political science major at UNC-Wilmington. I've been cooking since the minute I was able to stand in a chair in my grandma's kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I'm up for anything, but my favorite things to cook are all sorts of desserts. I love not only making them taste good, but making them look at good as they taste!
My favorite family cooking traditions
It would have to be helping my grandmas in the kitchen on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Especially now in their older age, they both really depend on me to show up very early and help out! And I just love being in the kitchen with family :).

Oaty Cereal Bars
These are SO good! I could hardly stop eating them. Neither could the 8 year old I babysit who will not eat anything! She took a bite, and after a moment of suspense...she belted out "That's the way, uh huh, uh huh, I like it!" LOL. I used Golden Graham cereal because that's what I had in the house, and also boiled the sugar and honey longer as one user suggested. I think I went too long though, because they set up to be hard as a rock. That can easily be remedied though by a few seconds in the microwave. Be careful! The sugar mixture can get VERY hot when reheated! I will be experimenting with different kinds of cereal & next time will only boil the sugar and honey for about 1 minute instead of 3.

Chocolate Orange Truffles
These were AMAZING! So good. I made them for my boyfriend & his favorite flavors are orange and key lime so I made half of each. I took a reviewer's suggestion of making the filling mixture the night before and keeping in the fridge overnight. It was REALLY stiff by then, but I was still able to get it into balls. I would definitely double or triple the recipe if making for more than one person because mine only came out to 24 VERY small truffles. Taste is delicious though!

Chocolate Eclair Dessert
I have been making this dessert for family get-togethers my entire life! Which is 20 years. Everyone loves it, I don't know what would happen if I decided not to make it one year! Definitely follow one user's suggestion of microwaving the frosting if you are using store-bought - that is the way I have always done it, and not only does it make it MUCH easier to spread, the consistency sits much better with the rest of the dessert. I always try to get it into the fridge the night before serving so that the graham crackers get soft. Delicious!
