My Grandfather was a Swiss Immigrant in the 1920's who was a professional pastry chef in Hollywood, CA, specializing in sugar sculpture, and who made some incredible creations for movie stars in his day. I somehow inherited many of his interests, including cooking, baking and pastry work. I have always aspired to be as good as he was, but have only just begun. Cooking for me is an art that I want to excel at. Above all, I love to try new things. I hope to someday publish his Old-World, hand-written recipes in a book.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make exotic or artistic pastries, including candies and decorated cakes but also love trying anything savory and tasty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The fact that my mother raised me on lots of variety made my palate never satisfied with the status quo. I love all things food!
My cooking triumphs
decorating cakes, eclaires, many, many soups and sauces from Taste of Home Magazine (they almost always turn out!) and the fact that my cooking really took a turn for the better once I learned to use all natural herbs and spices from the famous cook, Pol Martin (Quebec), which has helped my cooking evolve to experimenting and creating my own recipes.
