About this Cook
I'm brand new at cooking of any kind above toast, but I'm finding that I dig it. My mom is Paula Deen/Rachel Ray/Martha Stewart legendary, but growing up, I avoided the kitchen (kind of how my husband does now!) Now I'm married and all the way across the country, though, so here we go!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken anything because it's easy. =] But the more I do, the more I like, so right now, everything is my favorite thing to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's baking is to die for. If it can be baked, she does it extraordinarily. Holidays, family members flock to her place to get fat and happy.
My cooking triumphs
I made enchiladas and mexican rice for the first time recently, and they turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
Ahhh, the first time I tried to make seasoned rice, I turned the heat down far too low and had rice soup. The water literally went nowhere, and my poor rice was huddled together at the bottom of the pan.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
This is the second year my husband and I have used this recipe, and it is THE BEST! The turkey came out wonderful. Juicy, tender, and seasoned perfectly. I even messed ours up a little this year (I threw the seasoned salt in with the water and other seasonings) and everyone was wowed. We will be using this recipe for years to come.

Sugar Cookie Frosting
This frosting came out perfect. I followed some others' tips and halved the recipe; I still had more than enough!Wonderful texture, pipes and spreads very nicely. I will definitely be using this recipe again for all my holiday cookies.
