Veronica's Hot Spinach, Artichoke and Chile Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
I loved it! If you love hot dip make this recipe. Not a good recipe for whimpy people that don't like it hot. I heated up in the crockpot to take to a party and served it with gluten free crackers....delicious (I do think that next time I will add some sourcream to make less thick).

Taco Seasoning I

Cost pennies to make and tastes really good. I had all these items in my pantry. No reason to buy a packet any longer. I will be definitely be making in bulk and keeping to use for recipes that need taco seasoning

Sauceless Garden Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
yum, yum, yum. I wanted a good dinner, but a little lighter on carlories. Had friends for dinner to try this out on. It was great. Unfortunately I boiled the noodles which made the lasagne soupy (my fault). And, of course I did add at least another cup of mozarella (ok, made more fattening). Seriously, this was easy to make even with the fresh ingredients! Definitely on my go to list

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
This frosting has an ok taste.....used to frost a wedding cake yesterday and it never crusted enough to smooth out the cake. It is ok for borders and makes a fantastic black (2 cups frosting, 1 oz. black coloring and 1/4 cup powdered chocolate). Just didn't have that wow factor I was looking for in a frosting

Twice-Baked Ranch Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
I served with steak and Jamies cranberry spinach salad (from this site); what a great dinner. I did add about 1/4 c sour cream and to the mixture and served with sour cream. I did not use the extra potatoes as others called for. Very good alternative to regular potatoes. Yummy

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
Finally the hubby that thinks that everything is 'ok' rated it a 6! I did use 1/2 the butter and 1/4c less sugar than called for (and I hate it when people alter a recipe and then rate it) but I know what my family likes (less fat, less sweet) - this was absolutely awesome. I made fresh whipped cream and served right out of the oven. This was a great comfort food desert on the snowiest day of the year. And, for those that had a problem cutting and transporting the cobbler to a dish - I cut it in the dish to cut down on the mess!

I came home to this one night when my daughter and husband decided that they wanted to cook dinner! It was very filling and tasty. They didn't change a thing and all of the ingredients we had on hand. We will definitely make again. We are just trying to think of a way to make the rue lower fat.....

Creamy Banana Pudding

Oh my gosh !!!!!! This is one of those to die for recipes. I love it; the older it is the better it tastes. My Father in law said that it tasted great - and he is a picky old guy from down South. Can all recipes be my favorite!

Roasted Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
5 stars for taste, 4 for ease of preparation. I think that it took a while to prepare. What was great about the recipe is that it can sit out room temperature or be served cold. I made for Christmas Eve - had one Gluten Free and one Vegetarian eater for dinner. Pretty Good - lots of flavors. Wasn't just the regular old green bean casserole for a vegetable.

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
ok, this was a really good recipe - I have to admit though that I am not a fan of short-ribs. Too much fat for my taste; I like my meat a lot leaner. I did enjoy the flavors of the sauce and the meat was tender. I will not make again, but the recipe did a great job with flavor.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I actually made this last year for Thanksgiving and never rated it - but I loved it!!!!!! There isn't really any more work than the canned pumpkin - maybe a little more time. But, this pie is really homemade! I did increase the spice as others suggested. This didn't taste like a traditional "pumpkin pie" that we are probably used to - but I bet our Grandmothers used to make it this way - LOVED IT!

Caramel Popcorn

I actually made this recipe last year for Christmas - but kept making it over and over again. It was a big hit and once again is Gluten Free. I also add salted peanuts and it tastes out of this world! Am heading to Costco right now to get the stuff in bulk :)

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
I made this for Christmas Eve since I didn't want to overdose over the holidays with too much ham and turkey. Wow; was this great. I made 1 change due to one of my guests being gluten intolerant. I used corn starch instead of flour. (Trader Joes sells gluten free beef broth). My dinner was an absolute hit. I did everything during the day up to the baking of the beef tenderloin - this made everything extra special easy so that I could relax while entertaining my guests. 7 people rated this a 5!!!!!!!!! (PS - my roast was 4 pounds and we had plenty of leftovers)......

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
ok, I make packaged cakes all the time and am never really please with the lack of the chocolate taste in the cake. I made this cake in a 9x13 loaf pan, cut it down the middle (after freezing it for a while, this cake is so moist it falls apart). I spread chocolate mousse in the center (1 small chocolate instant pudding, 1 cup milk, 1 cup heavy cream, mix, chill and then spread evenly on cake center). And then added the cream cheese frosting from this site and had the most incredible chocolate cake that I have ever tasted. Not the easiest cake to decorate since it is so moist, but well worth it cause the taste is out this world. I

Tangy Apple Chicken Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
The prep time was at least 30 minutes for me, but the end result was really good. My family turned their noses up with the idea of "chicken loaf" but were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful taste (even the texture was great!) I made this with mashed sweet potatoes and broccolini. Will definitely make again.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

As is I rate as a 4. I did add extra whipping cream (about 1 c to the coolwhip) - I am not 100% fond of angel food cake but next time would use pound cake. This cake actually tastes better the next day
