About this Cook
I am 25 years old, don't let the hair and make up fool you it's just for fun. I just find this picture hilarious. I am also a mother of two beautiful children, Rachel 1 1/2, and Thomas 2 months. I am currently staying home but will be working evenings and weekends in the near future, I will still find time to cook, it is my outlet! I love to try new recipes, that said I am trying to find my "perfect basics." I am looking for the best recipes for simple old fashioned home cooking. I'm planning on making my own cook book for my personal use and for family members, of course including family recipes. I also enjoy preparing food from all different cultures, I'll try most things at least once.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread, all kinds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to make strudel with my family, a german meal, not the desert. It is a family favorite.
My cooking triumphs
I was able to master baking bread at high altitudes, coming from ND I it was a challenge.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make my own wedding cake to save a few bucks, well I did make it. Not all the pieces for the construction of it came in time, not that that was the only complication. My poor bride and groom were ready to slide off any moment it was leaning so bad, I did think it was pretty hilarious, after all what could I do, it was a little late to do anything else but laugh and take a picture from every angle!

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes
These pancakes were wonderful, and easy to make. I added more vanilla and that made a perfect pancake!

Sweet Dinner Rolls
These rolls were great, I would add 1/2t salt to the recipe though.

Soft Sugar Cookies V
These cookies were nice and soft, pretty good all around. I did have to add more flour. They tasted like egg nog, which was good but a little over powering.
