Fiance, mother of two (22 & 4 mos) recently relocated to Bay Area. Motherless and Fatherless daughter, try to hold on to and regain recipes from my youth. I have an eotional attachment to most of my recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Love all kinds of soup, and most stir fry/rice based recipes. Baking is not my forte - yet! I once caught the stove on fire experimenting as a teenager. Disaster averted, but I shy away from sweet goods ever since. Trying again in my 30s.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything that I remember my mother making for us. There were no recipes passed along before she passed away 6 years ago, so often I search the internet for similar recipes and twist them until the feel right to me. I also have a meatball tortellini soup that a would-be mother-in-law taught me to make and i LOVEd making for my father before he passed away this year. In my adult years, I have started a tradition of learning a new recipe (substantial recipe) every new years. Lasagna rang out 2008 & in 2009.
My cooking triumphs
No triumphs yet, but i've been happy with almost everything i've attempted lately. getting better! Chile Rellenos came out great in 2008. Enchiladas and taco shells are easier every time!
My cooking tragedies
No real tragedies since my youth.
