My Mom passed away when I was 13, and my sister was in nursing school, so it was up to me to cook, clean, do laundry etc. I learned the basics from my sister and carried on after that.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake unique desserts. I love to make meals but very seldom follow a recipe (use it as a guide). I've told my husband if he likes something it's not likely he will get it again as I ad-lib most all recipes. I love making soups from leftovers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making certain treats for Christmas. If I don't make even one of them it doesn't seem like Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Cheesecake! I tried a few times and could never get it right. Now I can make great cheesecakes that everyone raves about.
My cooking tragedies
Ground Beef: When my husband and I were first married it didn't matter what I did, all my ground beef recipes flopped big time. Of course he would say how good it was until I said it was awful and he would agree with me. Such a diplomatic and hungry husband.
