I have been married for 19 years, and I have been cooking almost as long. I am 41,I have 1 husband,(lol) and 2 daughters, they all make me happy and proud! I started out cooking stuff my mom used to cook for us at home, then I took more interest in cooking and I asked my grandma to teach how to cook some of the things she used to cook, such as her Mexican rice and Albondigas. I love to bake cookies and cakes, and I cook a lot of Mexican, Italian and American food. I do venture out and try Mediterrean foods too, especially Greek, since my family really enjoys the flavors of Greek cuisine. Anytime I get a chance to cook for a party a dinner or anything I am always happy to do so. My family, husband, daughters, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, loves my cooking and that makes me very happy! I wanted to go to Culinary school, but we'll see...my youngest daughter is always telling me to open up a restaurant, so who knows?
My favorite things to cook
Cakes, desserts. Mexican food,Enchiladas, Albondigas, Chilequilas, whatever! I love cooking Thanksgiving dinner too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making my grandmas Albondigas. I am so glad she was able to teach me how to make them before she started forgetting how to cook. Now when I make them I always have that memory of us making them together and it helps when I miss her. I also enjoy making Christmas cookies with my daughters. We make sugar cookies every year and decorate them with Royal Icing, sugars and sprinkles and they always come out looking awesome!
My cooking triumphs
Petit Fours cakes for my sisters baby shower and a beautiful Red Velvet Cake for my daughters birthday. Everyone also loves the salad I make, which I don't get cuz it's just basically a bag of salad, avocado, tomato and olives in vinegar and oil and we eat it like every other day...but they always ask me to bring the salad to family gatherings...go figure lol
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make an Enchilada casserole in a crock pot and it burned beyond recognition. :( That was the first time I had burned anything in a crock pot! lol
