About this Cook
I'm a kindergarten teacher. My favorite food is something someone cooks for me, although I'm a decent cook. Actually I'm the best cook in the family - unfortunately that wasn't hard to achieve ((grins)).
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook simple appitizers and desserts. Anything with chocolate is wonderful. Simple is good too. I also like to make things in my crock pot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am the family appitizers and Dessert Maker, especially for the Christmas holidays. I have a favorite cookbook - All the Best by Pampered Chef. Very decadent and very delicious. My family can't wait to see what I make each year. Fortunately they get their fill, I tend to make too much.
My cooking triumphs
My Holiday Bark is my specialty. I adapted the recipe from the pampered chef All the Best book. I make dark, milk and white chocolate batches. It's beautiful and delicious. ok, it's a little expensive too.((grins))
My cooking tragedies
My first lasagna: I was 19 and babysitting at my sisters - I invited my parents over for dinner. The lasagna fell and flipped over in the oven as I was taking it out. Tragedy! On a few occasions I looked up recipies on the internet according to the meat I had to cook. There were a few that we took a few bites of and then threw away. I love the rating system on Allrecipes as well as user comments. Now I don't worry that what I make will be unedible.

Creamy Smashed Potatoes
This was very good. This coming from someone who usually skipps the mashed potatoes. My husband didn't use reduced fat ingredients and substitutes garlic salt for the onion salt. It was a success.

Easy Turkey Gravy
Very good! We whipped this up at the last minute. I don't usually eat mashed pototoes and gravy, but my husband made some pototoes, so we found this recipe. It was quick and easy. I substituted Lactose milk to make it a little easier for me to eat. It was delicious.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
Absolutely delicious! Frankly, I just wanted to try it because as a Michigander, I loved the name. Of course the 5 star rating helped. My husband made this today while I was at work. We came home to a wonderful thanksgiving dinner in March:) He is now the official Turkey maker - due to this recipe.
