I'm a college student at Purdue University majoring in Biology. I've got an apartment with two room mates who consider mac n cheese and ramen to be their stellar dishes, so I'm allowed to buy ingredients and create any dish I'd like and they'll split the costs with me. It should also be noted that my girlfriend is terrible, even afraid, when cooking, so I have plenty of opportunities to cook for her as well
My favorite things to cook
My sweet chili, grilled/baked chicken, slow cooked meals, soups, and all kinds of baked goods, though I will try out about any recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was the latest person in my family to really know how to cook well, and she never passed on her recipes and favorites to my sister or myself, so I've started making my own/trying out recipes that sound appealing, and keeping a record of them, as well as what I've learned from them.
My cooking triumphs
Teryaki chicken kabobs with peppers, pineapple, and onion. Didn't even use a recipe. Too bad the girl I made them for hated vegetables and pineapple. I should probably look into these things before cooking.
My cooking tragedies
Baked salmon. Followed recipe to a T and it tasted, smelled, looked, and even felt terrible as you ate it. I guess the wild rice pilaf under it was tasty...
