I have 5 wonderful kids who all enjoy cooking. my oldest and I are going to culinary school together.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new things. I also love baking .One of our favorites here is mini meatloaves that i got of the food network from Ina Garten. The best meatloaf I ever had. I love the whole creating part of cooking .Cooking used to scare the heck out of me. Being around good cooks like my Mom , was very intimidating that i didnt want to do it. I was afraid of messing up and it being joked about, so I didnt do it. I actually thought I hated it. I then had Gastric Bypass and learn to appreciate food and want to try everything. Thats when I found my passion.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite would have to be my grandmothers German potaoe salad, even though it still doesn't taste exactly the same even though i follow the recipe. Another one would have to be my other grandmothers zucchini and eggs. THE BEST BREAKFAST YOU WILL EVER HAVE. Last but not least, Aunt Millie's meatballs. All of them are absolutely perfect!
My cooking triumphs
This Christmas Eve I amazed myself . I made a spice cake that was three layers of yummy goodness. I saw it on a cover of a magazine and I had to make it, but it did look hard. I was so glad I did because it was "picture perfect". Maybe a little to perfect, nobody wanted to cut it.
My cooking tragedies
One night I was having a very off night and of course I was making a big dinner with lots of sides and vegies, homade biscuits even. Well long story short, I burned everything. I mean everything had its on degree of burntness.
