Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
Here's how you can ruin a recipe by try improvising - I used chicken wingettes with skin on and bones in ~ I don't know what I was thinking! Left it on high for over six hours. Used Jack Daniels BBQ sauce & omitted all other ingredients except for some sliced onion and garlic thrown in. I thought maybe the JD would stand on its own. However, using chicken with skin on rendered too much fat. So I had to let it cool on paper towels and hand pulled out the skin and grizzle, the meat fell of the bones and was shredded. It looked like it might be saved but turned out more like chicken soup in barbecue sauce. Tried it over rice but the sauce was just too over powering. Next time I'll follow the recipe verbatim. Really not fair for me to rate this since I made a mess out of something as simply. So giving it 3*'s until my family lets me attempt to give it another go.

Spicy Orange Beef
Passed the 'make again' test hands down! My family loved it.Didn't vary much from the original - used 1/2 an orange & cut the peel very very thin (whats orange beef with out the orange?) added about 2 heaping Tsp of the marmalade 'cause I didn't feel like using a measuring cup Also used a sesame and canola oil mix Picked up a large white rice to go from a local Chinese take out & made some stir fry broccoli in hoisin sauce on the side. My kids thought everything came from the restaurant. Next time I'll try it with the real little peppers found in the Asian market just to kick it up a notch.
