About this Cook
Mom + Wife
My favorite things to cook
Fish, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Vegetables, Grains, Baking. I like using fresh herbs and spices.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My childhood was filled with all types of homemade German Jewish/Eastern European goodies. I helped my mom with cooking everyday. My own family is more towards French cooking. (My husband is a retired French chef so we cook a lot of French style food). However, I'm careful, so I don't love cooking with too much butter and cream in all our food. I guess I cook a more Mediterranean style cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Have not made my husband sick with my cooking, yet! I cook supper almost every night, and use only wholesome fresh ingredients.
My cooking tragedies
I once read a recipe for chicken w/ Garlic. It called for roasting the chicken with 10 "cloves" of garlic, I misread it and used 10 BULBS of garlic stuffed into the chicken and under the skin. Not delicious! My French chef husband thinks most of what I cook is a tragedy! :-) He thinks having pieces of carrots cut slightly larger then each other is a tragedy! He has no choice and eats my food anyway, he loves to complain. I'm an excellent home cook.

Guinness(R) Corned Beef
YUM! I followed the advice and cooked in the Guinness NOT on a rack. It was so tender, and flavorful and I loved the sweetness. I can not wait to make it again!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Not Awesome! In my excitement of wanting to try out my new slow cooker I used this recipe. It uses a processed food product Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, it made the meat have that taste!
