About this Cook
I have been married for almost a year. My mom is an excellent cook and I grew up eating delicious meals and desserts. She's always giving me recipes from International and Peruvian cuisine :) to cook for me and my husband. I am a pre-med student at Utah State University and I want to go to P.A. school. I am from Lima, Peru and moved to the U.S. almost 4 years ago. I love to read, dance, exercise, and keep in touch with my family and friends all over the world.
My favorite things to cook
I love cheap, fast, delicious meals :) Sometimes I would go out of my way to cook something more difficult but I really don't have much time for those kind of meals since I go to school.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Peruvian food!! One of my fav's is "Aji de Gallina", I also love "ceviche", "Tallarin verde", "Tacu-tacu montado", "Escaveche", etc, etc.... yum... I'm hungry now :)
My cooking triumphs
Chicken Teriyaki, "Pollo a la leche", apple dumplings.
My cooking tragedies
Once I could not find the right cheese for a Peruvian recipe so I decided to use a different one... I think it was Monterey Jack.... anyway, the sauce that I was trying to make turned out horrible! I don't recommend to replace the ingredients of a Peruvian recipe.

Teriyaki Chicken
My husband never gets tired of this one. Just remember to broil the chicken for 3 minutes to get the skin crunchy and delicious!

Brown Sugar Chops
This recipe was a success in my home! I read some of the suggestions for this recipe and what I did was melt the butter on a small pot and then add the brown sugar and soy sauce. Once everything was dissolved I poured the sauce over the pork chops which had been sprinkled with brown sugar. The chops were only partially defrosted and I only let them sit on the sauce for as long as it took to preheat the oven. I baked them at 350 F for 35 min.and flipped them halfway. Broiled for 3 min. Very Good!
