About this Cook
I'm a 51 year old grandfather of 5. Living life to it's fullest and working everyday as a mechanic. I love the holidays when all the family gets together and feast on my favorite dinner and desserts.
My favorite things to cook
Pomegranite Roasted Turkey with Herb Stuffing, Oyster Dressing, My Famous Chunky Peanut Butter Chochlate Drop Cookies, My Cherry Banana Cream Cheese Pie, Super-Chochlate Drop Cookies, and BBQ.
My favorite family cooking traditions
4th Of July Cook-Out... Mom makes the best Stuffed Hamburgers..No condiments needed. We all get together for football, swimming & lot's of food...
My cooking triumphs
My BBQ Brisket... Brown Sugar coated with my own special secret seasoning. Never done in the oven & it's 10hrs of hard work, Gotta keep the Temp just right and the cooks thirst down...LOL
My cooking tragedies
I guess it would be the time I dropped the flour canister on the floor and it shattered and ended up all over the kitchen and the cat, which is why I dropped it in the first place. I learned 2 things that day. Don't try to wash flour off your cat... One thing is the cat does'nt like water and it's hard to clean up globs of flour that the cat just shook all over the house...

Herman Sourdough Starter
So far my starter is doing well. Now going on day 8. I'm in no rush. Nice texture.Full of bubbles and the smell is very aromatic. I leave mine out on the counter,so I feed mine every day. Waiting for my 11-in. Round La Cloche Brick Oven by Sassafras to come in. Then I'll make my first loaf of San Fransico Sourdough Bread ( a secret recipe from my dad while in the navy (WWII),while in San Diego. Will do a series on it. Story and pics.
