I come from a southern Oklahoma family that enjoys simple country dishes. I am much more adventurous in my cooking and dining, but I do have a deep appreciation for traditional southern food. I am still learning a lot in the kitchen, but I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes with creating a delicious meal. My mom gave me a simple recipe with pork chops and potatoes. So delicious. I am the only person in my immediate family other than my mother who has a real interest in cooking in the kitchen (other than grilling outside). So the times I spend in the kitchen with Mom are special moments of connection and bonding. The first time I made enchiladas for a good friend. She went crazy over them. To this day, it is the recipe she asks me to make for her. I tried to make bread once. I either forgot to use yeast or didn't put enough. At any rate, the bread came out flat and pathetic. I still have yet to try my hand at bread-making again.
