Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
This recipe is awesome. I made it in a cast iron skillet--might as well, since you need to melt the butter in a skillet anyway. I substituted half of the sugar for honey, and half of the butter for coconut oil to make it healthier. The cooking time with the cast iron skillet is only 25 min. I loved it!

Boston Baked Beans

Really tasty. I didn't change a thing. But next time I will try using the crockpot, and also using less bacon and onion.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
This recipe was sooo good. This will be my second time making it within one month. The only thing I did different was to use a homemade barbeque sauce that is found on this site. Its called Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce. Incredible. I like these style ribs better cause you get more meat for your dollar, but you still get some bones in there for flavor.

Plum Clafouti

This is a little strange to look at, but tastes incredible and is super easy to make. I like that it has tons of fruit and not much sugar. I really like it.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
I just found this recipe last week and its already the second time I'm making it. It is very authentic--tastes just like from a teriyaki restaurant. This is by far the best teriyaki recipe ever.

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
A delicious desert for Fourth of July, though it was a little more like a cake instead of a cobbler. Not too sweet, very pleasant flavor. I made no modifications to this recipe and my family devoured it within minutes.

Everyone loved indulging in this rich meaty dish. It turned out wonderful, although next I will try with less salt.

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This recipe was pretty okay. It was a lot of work, but did not taste authentic enough in the end. It was way too saucy and too sweet. I will try again, but will use less water and less sugar. It was nearly like a thick Asian soup.

Asparagus Soup in Seconds

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
This was pretty good, very low in fat, inexpensive to make, and quick. It was just a tad too high in sodium cause of all the canned food and it had a little too much of a canned food taste. But this is a great recipe when if you are home alone and have lots of work to can't spend time cooking. I believe it is 1 serving for 1 person, or maybe I need help with portion control!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
Sorry, this recipe turned out like bland, shredded carnitas. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I was hoping for a tasty roast I could slice. This just doesn't meet my expectations.

Poblano Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
This casserole is a real winner. It has incredible flavor and texture and contains only fresh ingredients. Since I didn't have mushrooms on hand, I put in one small chopped onion instead. I added a little chicken broth to the cream mixture and salt to taste. I will make this again and again.

Ham, Potato and Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I added a half cup of cheese and one small onion, and used only half can a milk, but it was still too watery at the bottom. I think this recipe would be better if the the ingredients were not all frozen, cause they end up defrosting right into the dish. Best to cook or defrost beforehand. Other than than that, the casserole had a great flavor and it was a nice way to use up leftovers.
