About this Cook
An senior at University of Washington majoring in Geography with a social, cultural, political and GIS concentration. I've been enjoying cooking since I was able to measure out a cup of flour. My father is from the balkans so I have lots of background with slavic cooking. I'm vegetarian and I try to eat vegan as much as possible.
My favorite things to cook
Lentil soup, fried rice, sushi, basically anything Japanese, muffins, traditional dishes with uncommon vegan substitutions
My favorite family cooking traditions
Jaivar!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking chicken biryani for a group of 20-something guys at my boyfriend's house. Grilling, peeling, de-seeding, processing, cooking and canning 300 red peppers to make Jaivar (Serbian pepper sauce)!!
My cooking tragedies
Making vegan cassoulet with homemade biscuits on top that didn't rise!

Apricot Lentil Soup
Really delicious and unique! The apricot really added a little sweetness that wasn't overpowering!

Jo's Rosemary Bread
SO GOOD! This disappeared within twelve hours of baking! I used a 1.5 tbsp fresh rosemary, trying to find a safe medium in regards to the other reviews, and it was perfect! I also made it completely by hand because I don't have any of that fancy schmancy gadgets.

Amish White Bread
Perfect!! I don't think you can mess up, given that this is the second bread venture I've ever taken. It's taking all of my will power not to eat the lot of it right now!
