About this Cook
Mom to two wonderful children, scientist and FOODIE! My family affectionately calls me "the Trash Can Cook," or "the one who can look in the pantry, fridge or freezer and feed everyone..." My dad taught me how to be creative and my mom taught me the basics.
My favorite things to cook
Chili, all kinds, from competition-style to homestle kid-friendly chili. My last batch was chili verde with applewood smoked pork. Recipe to come on the web...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of course, holiday cooking is where we all shine, but Big Saturday Breakfast is our family favorite: Biscuits and Gravy, Potatoes O'Brien and French Omelets are some of our favorites.
My cooking triumphs
My Pride and Joy, Mastering the Art of Smoked Meats!
My cooking tragedies
Maybe I will share them later....

Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake Squares
My family really enjoyed this for our Easter brunch! I had made a sauce out of fresh strawberries and orange zest to serve on the side...what a lovely combination! I did have trouble finding the lemon cake mix with pudding and ended up using a box of Duncan Hines lemon cake mix and one small box of lemon instant pudding mix that I folded into the prepared cake mix. The reult was a very moist but light dessert!
