About this Cook
I am married and have two boys, ages 3 and ten months. I have two dogs, a bernese mountain dog and a basset hound. I am a registered nurse and work at Sanford hospital in Sioux Falls.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything that can be grilled or made into a casserole!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to make spooky halloween treats and carve pumpkins with my kids. The dogs like it to, mainly because they will get anything that lands on the floor. I also like to make fudge at Christmas time.
My cooking triumphs
I don't really have a triumph yet, I haven't been cooking that long!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make enchilada sauce. It really would not have been that bad, except for the fact that I ran out of chili powder and used cayenne pepper instead. I didn't realize that cayenne pepper was so hot until I tasted the sauce. I felt like flames were shooting out of my mouth, the rest of the family felt the same way.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
This was very tasty, the flavors went together well. We used a pork sausage instead, my husband is not a fan of turkey sausage, so that is the only reason why. It was delicious!

Out of this World Turkey Brine
I will never cook another turkey without doing a brine first. It made such a difference! The meat was juicy and full of flavor. I put a clean trash bag in my bottom drawer of the fridge, put the turkey in the drawer, and poured the brine over the bird until it was covered. I did have some brine left and just dumped it. I let the turkey site for almost a day and a half, and it was excellent!
