I am married w/4 girls and 2 boys, 5 grandchildren. My husband bought a farm 3yrs ago. I run the farm. I raise chickens, geese, turkeys, goats, cows, and peacocks. I enjoy cooking from the basics. For example I grow, clean, mill, and cook with the corn and wheat that I raise. You can't get any more from scratch than that. I run the local farmers market and educate people on how to improve their lifestyle with just a few edible plants. I assist in educational setting by donating time, and eggs for incubating. "The moment you stop learning you stop living."
My favorite things to cook
Cooking with fresh recipes is my favorite as I grow and raise most of my food, beef, chicken, goat, milk, eggs, wheat, corn, and various other vegitables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents each had their trade mark recipes, Dad was a great breakfast cook and mom made the best diner meal to include desert of which I have began to start writing these down. Now my children grown with their own children want to know how. When every they come to visit it is always Grandpas bisquit and gravy and grandmas cucumber salad and always remembering the time we shared.
My cooking triumphs
It took 2 batches to make it but I finally made goat cheese. It was just as tasty as I thought it would be.
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving 1991,The family was invited everyone but 1 declined. Then everyone showed up From 5 to 14. The oven died the night before, my daughter made butter out of whipping cream, the mixer burned up making mashed potatos, the turkey was over done and feel apart, just as I set the table, what could happen but the roof began to leak. It was the most memorable and best Thanksgiving and puts a smileon my face whenever I think about it
