I consider Hawaii my home because that is where I married and started my family. I grew to love the hawaiian food and culture as well as the other cultures on the island. I like to cook pretty much anything. I really like to bake but know for the most part it isn't too healthy, at least what I bake isn't! I didn't grow up with too much tradition. My husbands family has lots of tradition but in the mainland it is harder to come by the ingredients for the dishes. We just enjoy food and family together! I don't think I have any "triumphs" in the kitchen but if I can make a dish that my whole family (4 kids & husband) enjoy that is a triumph!! I think when I was about 11 I found a recipe for hard candy in my mom's cookbook so I decided to try it out. When the candy didn't set I put it in the deep freeze but it still did not work. My mother was oblivious that I had tried this until she found the sugar concoction spilled all over the food in the freezer!
