About this Cook
I've always loved cooking. My parents were (and still are) foodies. A lot of weekends they would try new recipes and I'd be there watching and asking too many questions. I think that is why in my adult life I enjoy cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking a lot of different foods. Since marrying my husband who is very southern, I've enjoyed learning how to prepare some southern specialties. I've lived down here for 20+ years and have eaten a little southern food but didn't cook it myself.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since I was a child we have the traditional French Canadian Christmas Eve meal of Tourtiere and Habitant Pea soup. No, we are not French Canadian. I'm not sure how that started. And of course the big Christmas cookie bake with Mom, Sister and Niece. Being mostly Irish we have Corned Beef and Cabbage with Soda Bread and Sticky Toffee Pudding on St. Patty's Day. Since marrying my husband we do Pork and blackeyed peas for New Years.
My cooking triumphs
First time I made my husband (then bf) cornbread he said it was as good as his grandmothers. He didn't know Canadians knew how to make cornbread!
My cooking tragedies
Too many! I made a mayple syrup pie for my Dad one time and when I took it out of the oven the crust had disapeared! He ate it any way. I can bake cakes and cookies but not pie crusts!

Chicken and Corn Chowder
We were in need of some comfort food and this fit the bill! The flavors go really well together. I added chopped celery just because we like it. It would be really good on a cold, rainy night! I'm looking forward to the leftovers for luch!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream
We really enjoyed this! The only change I made was using half & half instead of heavy cream. It's quite hearty and easy to make. I'll be making it again!
