I am 27 years old, wife to a wonderful husband and mother of four kids under the age of 10. I got into cooking shortly after I was married. My family and I are Civil War Reenactors. I sew all of my and the children's costumes for the events. As my day job, I own a Paper Arts Speciallty business called The Artful Quiller that features the art of paper quilling.
My favorite things to cook
I am our family's confectioner. I love to bake desserts and cookies. I am the family Queen of Christmas Cookies! I also love to try new recipes that I haven't tried before.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My in-laws are inspiring me to cook and to make new traditions with the kids! I love my Mum-in-law! I always make Wassail during the Holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I only have two triumphs to share, but I think they are both good. Once I had some friends over for an informal Sunday lunch and made Polynesian Pork Chops. They were fantastic and everyone was really impressed! The second occasion was when I had a good friend from school over whom I hadn't seen in a long time. I made a Chicken and Broccoli dish that is wrapped in a pastry braid. It was great! The hard part was that I was 8 months pregnant with my youngest daughter and had Braxton Hicks (false or practice) contractions the whole time! I got through the prep and the meal and my sweet hubby cleaned up the kitchen for me after while I went to the living room with my company and put my feet up!
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully I can't think of any cooking tragedies at the moment, but with trying new recipes all the time, I'm sure someday there will be a first! :)
