I made this but in a much smaller portion since it was just me...I used the directions on the back of the rice bag (I used long grain rice), which suggests adding butter or margarine and salt...I also added black pepper to mine...a nice variation to plain old white rice...I will definitely make this again.

I have tried several different alfredo sauce recipes and I also found that parmesan cheese doesn't melt very well...my sauce always seemed to come out grainy...I took your and some other readers' advice about using Gruyere cheese...I shredded it fresh...and I have never gotten a sauce as smooth and creamy! I also added an egg yolk and used garlic salt instead of fresh garlic, and also added some black pepper (based on some other alfredo recipes I've seen). The sauce was perfect!!!! Thanks for the suggestion on the Gruyere cheese! It's definitely the way to go!!!!

I tried this recipe on a whim because I wanted something fresh that wouldn't take too long to cook...this came out great for me! I pretty much did exactly what the recipe said and pureed the tomatoes before adding the cream, based on other reviews. The flavors were perfect together, and it wasn't a heavy meal, which is what I was looking for. I will def add some sausage or chicken the next time I make it!
