Chicken in Savory Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This was good! I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs. My husband suggested the addition of some other veggies and then serve it over a bed of rice. I think next time I'll try that.

Mushroom Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. The roast turned out rather dry, and the mushrooms had a funny taste. I thought it was a huge waste of mushrooms, since I LOVE mushrooms. My husband suggested I look for another recipe.

This wasn't SPECTACULAR, but it was definitely good. I'd make it again.

Creamy Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This was good, but nothing spectacular. I would make it again, though. I might add some garlic powder next time, like other reviewers did. I think that would make a nice addition.

Light 'n' Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
These were yummy. I had company over so I wanted to do something a little more special than just regular mashed potatoes. These did the trick. My guest said the paprika added a nice touch, and actually added more to his plate. My husband also really liked them. I LOVE mashed potatoes, and I thought they were really good.

Bodacious Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
These brownies were good. I took the suggestions of other reviewers and added a little extra butter and substituted chocolate chips for the walnuts (mini chocolate chips). Mine didn't need the extra bake time others needed. They were a little more cake-like than I would like, but still good. I have no idea why some people's turned out dry. Mine are SO moist. I also added about 3 1/2 tbsp of creme de menthe to give them a nice mint flavor.

Easy Pork Chop Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I thought this recipe was awesome! I used the full amount of water called for, so I took the advice of another reviewer and served it with egg noodles instead of rice. It worked well. I added more mushrooms than called for because I really love mushrooms. My only complaint about this recipe is it was a bit too salty for my taste. Next time, I might try reducing the dry onion soup to see if that helps out.

No-Fuss Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
This meatloaf turned out pretty good. However, it was a tiny bit bland, so I think next time I'll add some onion as well.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
These cookies were great! I think they would be just as good without the mini chocolate chips, so I might try them without them next time. Since I only ever buy creamy peanut butter, I added some peanut butter chips as well. Worked well.

Yogurt Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I will admit, I was a little hesitant when I first came across this recipe. I wasn't sure how it would turn out. However, it was excellent! I made the mistake another reviewer did and used vanilla yogurt. It was still good, just gave the chicken a weird zing of sweetness. Next time I'll be sure to use plain yogurt (and add a bit more garlic powder), but either way, this recipe is definitely a keeper!

Cola Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. My husband didn't like it. I thought it was pretty good. The only change I made is I cooked them 20 minutes each side instead of 30. Might make this again.

These did not turn out at all for me. Based on the other reviews, I must've done something wrong, but I don't know what. Maybe I'll try it again.

I made this yesterday. After breakfast today, it's all gone! I didn't bother measuring the bananas, I just used 4 fairly large ones.

Pumpkin Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
I just made this. Instead of freezing the pumpkin overnight, I just threw some ice cubes in the blender. I also used pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon, and threw in some vanilla extract. It is a bit thick, but you can always add more milk if that bothers you. I liked it fine as is, my husband asked me to add some sugar to his. I like it either way. He describes it as "pumpkin pie in a glass". This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Brigadeiro

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
These are pretty good. They're not GREAT, but they're definitely good. I only had a 300ml can of condensed milk, so I used that instead of a full 14 ounces. I took the suggestions of others and cooked it 2 minutes past when it came away from the pot. I also substituted one tablespoon of cocoa for one tablespoon of hot cocoa mix. After it was done cooking, I threw the pot in the fridge for an hour. The mixture was firm, but soft enough to work with. I rolled the balls in sprinkles. In my opinion, the sprinkles take away from the chocolate, so next time I will probably use a different topping.

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Instead of doing this in the slow cooker, I just heated it up on the stove and then let it simmer on low. We didn't drink it all in one night, but it kept well for a few days. All you had to do was re-heat it. It was a tiny bit of an acquired taste for me, but now I love it.

Christmas Maple Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
This is a good recipe, but not for fudge. The end result ends up being much like maple-flavored toffee. My mother-in-law and I decided we would just tell people we made maple toffee instead of maple fudge. :p. The only change we made was using a half cup of maple syrup (we were out of maple extract) and then just added a half cup less brown sugar. It tastes really good, it's just not fudge. At all.
