I have 5 children and try to provide healthy, affordable, quick meals! A real challenge!
My favorite things to cook
Linguine and white sauce with shrimp, and everyone always requests my pear salad (recipe from allrecipe.com!) and my cheesecake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
birthday dinners are a 'favorite' around here--yesterday was salmon with a raspberry coulis, pear salad with mixed mescaline greens, artichoke with hollandaise sauce, wild rice, and chocolate marble cheesecake decorated with dark and white chocolate dipped strawberries, star fruit, raspberries and grosseille berries. It was dinner for 10 and it was fantastic! (Except the cleaning up!)
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving dinner in Paris for 18 people--just finding the ingredients--turkeys are hard to find and expensive! Ten pounds of sweet potatoes had to be carried for miles because the metro was on strike. Learned to make stuffing from scratch (with all the delicious breads around here, the stuffing was wonderful!) All in all, extremely hard meal to prepare, extremely wonderful meal to share with new French friends and American ex-pats.
My cooking tragedies
I was trying to make something soft for two of the boys with braces--so I made a tuna casserole that was awful and to this day we laugh about it!
