I'm a stay-at-home mom of two children who are picky eaters. I love to cook, and bake with my husband of 14 years. He's much better at it than I am.
My favorite things to cook
Anything pasta, ham dinners, chicken, and chicken nuggets because they are so easy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband always bakes an apple pie for Thanksgiving, and my mother always makes her special Christmas cookies. I'm going to start a new tradtion this year with trying to make fudge for Christmas. It will be my first time.
My cooking triumphs
My husband really loves a recipe I call slum gunion. All it it is canned Franco American Spaghetti with hamburger. We fry the hamburger in a frying pan, and then add the canned spaghetti. I let it simmer for about five minutes, and he says it's the best thing he ever ate. Fortunate for him, the kids won't eat it.
My cooking tragedies
I cannot make cookies. They always come out hard as a rock. I also forgot to turn on the oven one Thanksgiving. It was an hour before I realized the turkey wouldn't cook very well without the oven on.
