I emjoy cooking when I have the time. I love and live for Jesus Christ and my husband, Charlie.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking anything. I only cook for my husband and myself so I have the chance to try many new recipes. We do alot salads. I found many wonderful receipes on All Recipes. We are a BBQing family so we eat tri-tip, chicken and ribs often. I enjoy cooking Pastas, vergetables, trying salads and putting a twist on the usual meatloafs, steaks and pork dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am Pima Indian from a reservation in Arizona. I grew up eating alot of fried food, meat, fyied bread and homemade tortillas. It wasn't till I got older that I realized how unhealthy frying food was. I have since cut out alot of the fried food. However, we ate alot of vegetables such as squashes and corn. I still today cook vegetables the way my grandparents did and changed the way of cooking meats to broiling or BBQing Of course everything always tastes better in homemade tortilla so we limit ourselves to that also.
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs are when I can pull of cooking for 100 people. My husband and I catered a wedding reception for 100 people. All the food was homemade. the bride wanted "homemade everything". It was a bit of a challenge but after it was all said and done, the compliments were very rewarding!
My cooking tragedies
I have a problem cookng rice and homemade gravy. My rice always comes out sticky or undercooked. My gravy is lumpy and either over or undersalted.
