About this Cook
I am a business student who does Karate in my spare time. I love to cook for my boyfriend but I don't have as much time as I'd like. I'm vegetarian and my boyfriend in vegan. I live in downtown Vancouver, BC. I also spend a lot of time raising money for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, a 2 day 60km walk for the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
My favorite things to cook
Lately I love making soups. and holiday baking. I also like to stir fry and make shepherd's pie. I also make a lot of simple pasta, just tossed with olive oil and spices.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When i was growing up i loved to make sugar cookies at christmas. I also remember Jello cut outs and chocolate birthday cakes with smarties all over them.
My cooking triumphs
I just learned how to make soups and am so proud that I made them! They are surprisingly easy! and I feel so good knowing that my boyfriend has a hearty, healthy lunch to eat at work.
My cooking tragedies
Oh my. I think I mentally blocked out the tragedies. I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

The Perfect Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip
Almost perfect as is. I used cream cheese instead of mayo for extra cheesiness. I also omitted the peppers because I don't like spicy and it was GREAT! I added some black pepper. I made it with soy cheeses and soy sour cream. It was great! Will definatly make again

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread
this recipe does not roll out well like I had hoped but it is very delicious. I rolled the dough into a small ball in my palm and flattened it with 2 fingers on the cookie sheet. Everyone at my christmas party enjoyed these.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
Very good! I liked that they didn't flatten out. I did find that they were a bit undercooked in the middle. Perhaps I should have flattened them with my hands more. They stayed soft for a very long time. I didn't make them with the nuts but they would be even better with the nuts I think.
