absolutely outstanding and ridiculously easy. Recipe originally called for a 2# roast, but I used a 4 1/2 # roast and maybe 14oz of rootbeer - there was more than enough. Great.

So sorry - made exactly as directed and was not that impressed. Pretty bland. Towards end, I scrambled about to try to fix and added chipolte with adobe sauce and additional seasonings - still only adequate. We doused top with diced red onion, and lots of cheese and sour cream which made it somewhat better, but still ....

I hate to be a spoil sport, but I did NOT like this rice at all - - - it reminded me of a mixture my mother used to make combining minute rice & cream of chicken soup, but without the flavor. So so sorry, but not for me.

I feel bad having to review this without actually being able to make the recipe as given (can't get my hands on sausage) - but what I did make was simply marvelous. Had to use spicy italian sausage (only 2, crumbled) and small red beans (not kidney), but the flavors were simply fantastic. Served with cornbread and salad and stumbled off to bed will full VERY satisfied tummy. Wonderful.

After sampling this recipe, all I can say is that I ran to my local grocer and purchased 8 small hens ... we absolutely fell in love. Made exactly as directed - and wouldn't change a thing. Outstanding!

So ridiculously easy and tasty, I simply had to give it 5 stars. I too used a small squirt of chocolate in coffee/water/sugar mixture before shaking, and poured over crushed ice. Wonderful. Thank you so much for recipe.

and to think I used to buy boxed cornbread ... I'm *so* ashamed! I've made this recipe over and over and over again and it just keeps getting better and better. Have made absolutely no changes to recipe ... I think it's fantastic just the way it is. Hats off

I love love love LOVE this recipe - not as a salad dressing, but more as a sauce/dip mix. I added a pinch of cumin as we were having tacos that nite, and those tacos, made with Charley's Mexican Meat, and topped with this and pico de gallo were simply to DIE for. Lovely subtle avocado taste that was the perfect contast to an otherwise spicy meal. Great as a dip with veggies and tortilla chips - this is def a keeper. Oh! Just a quick note - the first time I made this, I was out of sour cream and used all mayo. Let me tell you, after one taste, my daughter and I both looked at one another and said "deviled eggs". We tried it as a filling for hard boiled eggs and they were devoured in a matter of minutes...great job and ty so much for recipe :)

I'm giving this a 5 star review primarily (no offense Charley!) due to Impishs' 2006 comments - she's absolutely correct in that you simply must return the shredded meat to the pot and let the meat soak in all those wonderful flavors. Absolutely outstanding. We used a brisket, crockpot method, and the flavor was simple superbemundo. Thx so much.

!YIKES! Seriously good eats - I've tried about every dressing recipe on site and this has got to be the best. My only change was to cut olive oil by about a 3rd (we're big on strong vinegar tastes). Outstanding and ty for recipe.

I was trying to use up some leftover pineapple when I stumbled upon this recipe. I wasn't in the mood to make 18 muffins, tho, so I decided to to coffee/cake style. Made as directed (only change was adding a tbsp of vanilla/orange extract). Baked in 9" pan for 35" and it was simply wonderful. A little dry, perhaps, but I'm sure thats due to the way I baked it, but good eats with a cup of coffee. Nice job! I think tonight will serve with a small dollop of either whipped or ice cream on the side.

So sorry - I see the potential for this recipe, but as it stands I can't give it more than a '2'. If you enjoy grabbing a cup of sugar and pouring it into your mouth, then go for it ... seriously, I *like* sweet things, but there's a point where you have to stop and this goes beyond that limit. Again, great potential and could be fun to tweak, but nope ... not for me.

I loath short ribs, but I have to give this a 5 star ... esp for the sauce. Outstanding flavor! To cut back on amount of fat from shortribs, I seasoned and broiled them @ 400 for 45 min. This helped a great deal. I highly recommend the sauce and intend to use it with a brisket (yum...). Thx for recipe!

Really good recipe. I, too, was stumped by description of pattern until I read it to my husband ("duh" slaps head ... now I get it !). She's talking the 'pizza pattern' - use a pizza pan or clay disc, put the glass in the middle, take the dough and put the fat end up against glass with the pointy end going towards edge of pan; Do the same thing all around the glass so you have a 'circle' of triangle shapes. Put filling near fat part of triangle, bring tip up, over filling, and tuck underneath. The picture is what threw me.

Oh I truly loved this - I added about a half cup lemon juice vs the recommended 1/4 cup just to give it more zing ... wonderful!

Outstanding for a cold winters day. I too used spicy sausage, substituted beef for chicken broth, used elbow mac (only thing I had on hand), threw in a small piece of parm cheese rind, then served with shredded parm cheese on top. Hubby (who rarely enjoys soup) loved. Very nice - thank you for recipe.

No offense, but I really wasn't that impressed. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't give this a 5 star rating (sorry). Tastes kinda like a starving student meal I used to make with cream of chicken soup & instant rice. I'm sure my granddaughter will like it ...

Sorry for 4 stars ... this *was* a good cake, but it didn't bowl me over. Very light and moist ... I think perhaps I was expecting a dense gooey cake with intense banana flavor. I too, used 3 bananas and a tsp of cinnamon ... but to me, the banana flavor was rather subtle, and (as noted above), light and fluffy, rather than rich and gooey. Good cake, easy to make, and I'll probably make again.

As mentioned by others, I will *never* buy canned beans again. These are killer. Finished in my crockpot in about 4 1/2 hrs. They also freeze well.
