I love to experiment/modify recipes to suit me and my guests. My mother & grandmother were excellent cooks who sometimes had to deal with a scarcity of ingredients (WWII and the Depression) - they inspire me! I just wish I could create pastry like Mum though!
My favorite things to cook
All vegetables. Barbecued, smoked and grilled foods. Indian curries. All meats especially fish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Beef and Brussel Sprouts.
My cooking triumphs
Smoking a beef brisket, this was a labor of love as I was up at 4:00 a.m. to start it and it took 10 hrs - this was for a family & friends get together and it turned out pretty darned good as everybody liked it.
My cooking tragedies
Roasting a goose for Christmas Dinner, I took it out of the oven when finished and dropped the whole thing, grease every where and the dog hunting the bird across the floor!
