Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
This was excellent. The texture was like shortbread, a very tender biscuit. I used only 3 tsp. baking powder and left out cream of tartar per another viewer's suggestion. I did have to add a total of 1 cup of cream, as the batter was so dry. I rolled the dough into 12 balls and placed on a cookie sheet, slightly flattening. I put about a tbls. of strawberry mousse over each half bscuit, spooned sliced strawberries over the bottom biscuit, placed the top biscuit on and spooned a few more berries on top and topped it with cool whip. My family thought this was the best strawberry shortcake ever and so do I. Thank you for posting the recipe.

Easter Egg Nests

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
I made these for Easter and they were a hit. The first time I made them I mistakenly thought the recipe called for 1/2 CUP of milk instead of 1/2 teaspoon. Needless to say, there was a mess and I started over. My little grandson thought these were great and so did my husband. Will definitely make these again. Thanks for posting the recipe.

Country Style Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
I've been eating these potatoes all my life. My family is southern and my mom made them this way and so do I. Occasionally, I add chopped onions and green peopper. I serve them with hamburgers and baked beans for a fast supper.

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
It tasty very "eggy" and had several large cracks on top. I followed all of the tips and baked it at 200 degress for 3 hr. 10 min.& left in oven for 1 hr. with door open. I would not make this again, mainly because of it's eggy taste.

Fried Apple Pies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I have been making these little apple pies for a year and am just getting around to rating them. They are great and remind me of the ones my mother made when I was a kid. I added another apple, upped the cinnamon to 1 teaspoon plus a dash of nutmeg (our family likes spices), and used 1/2 cup of brown sugar instead of granulated sugar, as suggested by others.

Pumpkin Cookies VII

These are good pumpkin cookies: Moist, tasty. I put a cream cheese frosting on top and they were even better.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I don't like bananas so I'm rating this Banana Bread for my husband. He said this is one of the best that he has tasted. He said it was moist and has a great taste. I will be making this recipe again and again. (Should be 5 stars instead of 4, didn't know how to change it).

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I made this frosting back in August for my grandsons 3rd birthday. I made a train cake and used this frosting to decorate a 3-D Thomas train and a loaf and cupcakes. It was easy to decorate with and the intricate details held up under the humidity. The only negative about it was the taste. I thought it tasted a little greasy, although everyone else thought it tasted good. I used 1 1/2 cups shortening and 1/2 cup butter. Next time I'll try 1/2 of each.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
Great pound cake. I made this for my grandson's birthday. I used a 3-D Thomas Train pan that required a dense cake for the "train" to stand up and this was it. Moist and tasty. Will make again in another pan.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
These were very good brownies: fudgey, tasty, easy to make. I didn't make the frosting as I didn't think it was needed.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Brooke, these are great brownies. They sure are fudgey, just the way I like them. They were a little gritty the first day but that disappeared by the second day and I thought they were even better. I may try decreasing the sugar or half granulated and half brown sugar as some of the others have done. This is a keeper for me.

Glazed Apple Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
These are very tasty, moist cookies. I have made them twice and everyone in the family liked them. The first time I made these cookies I added more spice but I thought it was too much; the second time, I made them exactly as the recipe was written except I soaked the raisins in some warm water to plump them up before adding to the batter. This is one of my family's favorite cookies.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
I made these for Halloween. Before baking I flattened the balls with a glass dipped in sugar. They came out perfect. After frosting with confectioner's icing, I decorated them with candy corn. My three-year old grandson loved them. We enjoyed the spicy flavor and also the softness of the cooky. Thanks for the recipe.
